Many people with diabetes who need insulin are reluctant to start it or perceive the burden of taking daily injections to be a barrier. Once-weekly insulin may be an option for overcoming those concerns. This session will highlight up-to-date information about the approval status and use of once-weekly basal insulin for the treatment of diabetes and will review the clinical trial reports to date. Attendees will hear how once-weekly basal insulin has the potential to result in better outcomes and may increase people’s willingness to start insulin therapy when other medications no longer provide adequate glucose management.
