Care of people with diabetes is more than teaching about healthy eating, glucose monitoring, and such. As vital members of the diabetes healthcare team, diabetes care and education specialists can improve their skills and develop a deeper level of trust with their clients when they are aware of diabetes bias and weight stigma. This session will highlight how identifying barriers to care, and gaining insights about bias and stigma can enhance our role as agents of change in decreasing therapeutic inertia for those we serve.
