One of the main goals of person-centered care is preventing diabetes-related complications. Vaccines are important for people with diabetes because they are at a higher risk of getting certain diseases and serious problems from some vaccine-preventable diseases. Diabetes can make it harder for the immune system to fight some infections, which can lead to severe complications and even death. This session will review how getting vaccinated can help protect people with diabetes from getting sick and reduce the risk of complications from vaccine-preventable diseases. The presentation stresses the importance of staying up-to-date with vaccines to maintain good health.
