Despite well-established processes for evaluating and establishing care for adults in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), incorporating diabetes technology remains a challenge in a very closely monitored and regulated environment. To meet community standards of care for the use of diabetes technology, FBOP pharmacists have taken the lead in persistently exploring safe ways to bring these technologies behind the prison walls, leading to improved diabetes management. With limited available literature describing diabetes technology in an incarcerated setting, this presentation will share experiences for integrating diabetes technology in a correctional setting.
