Almost 50% of pregnancies in the US are unplanned. As per recent studies, it was found that 37% of women had pregestational diabetes, either T1 or T2 prior to pregnancy. Hyperglycemia at the time of conception and during pregnancy can increase both maternal and fetal risks and health outcomes. This presentation will focus on helping diabetes care and education specialists to assist women of childbearing age plan for a healthy pregnancy. Presenters will cover glycemic targets and management, lifestyle management, and baseline testing recommendations. Transitions of care for this population will be reviewed briefly.
