As the number of youths with type 2 diabetes continues to rise, the challenges in care also continue to rise. This session discusses challenges such as missed or late diagnosis, as practitioners in primary care and pediatrics are often not looking for this condition, focusing instead on obesity. These youths may belong to an underserved population, where care is often not accessible. The presenter discusses the problem, diagnosis, medication, and appropriate cultural care for youths with T2D. Attendees will learn how to appropriately intervene for this at-risk population.
