For decades, the body mass index (BMI) has been a cornerstone for evaluating an individual’s weight in clinical practice. However, there is a growing body of evidence supporting the call to eliminate this measure from clinical practice. What’s a contemporary DCES to do, especially given the significant overlap between obesity and diabetes? This debate-style presentation will analyze the evidence supporting and refuting the use of BMI in DCES practice, with practical tips for how to manage this clinical quandary when working with people with diabetes
