Diabetes education and management in the aging population have numerous challenges for health professionals not equipped to deal with factors outside the usual therapeutic arena of practice. This presentation will help the learner understand the physiological, mental, and emotional components of care of the elderly as well as socioeconomic influences not often encountered with younger patient populations. Learners will also learn lessons to more effectively promote healthy aging.
