P107 - Support Preferences of Low-Income Postpartum Women Following a Diabetes-Complicated Pregnancy

Postpartum women are at increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes (T2D) or exacerbating complications from pre-existing T2D following a diabetes-complicated pregnancy (DCP). These women need follow-up healthcare with subsequent blood glucose testing and support/education to facilitate healthy lifestyle behaviors to mitigate those health risks. Low-income postpartum women may have few accessible and acceptable resources for this support following a DCP. This poster reviews a qualitative study designed to explore various preferred sources of support, healthcare, and education for low-income postpartum women with a recent DCP. Semi-structured phone interviews were conducted with nine racially/ethnically diverse low-income postpartum women to identify emerging themes about preferred resources and modes of diabetes-associated support after experiencing a DCP.
