P228 - Addressing the Root of Diabetes Distress with Targeted Interventions

Diabetes Distress (DD) includes the emotional responses to managing diabetes daily. People with DD experience challenges in carrying out their treatment plans and achieving their glycemic goals, which puts them at an increased risk of associated complications. Understanding DD and its determinants is crucial for implementing effective interventions to improve outcomes. This poster describes how people with diabetes who are uninsured are screened for DD. Those who score high in the treatment plan-related distress category of the DDS-17 begin a goal-setting protocol. This includes weekly check-ins, assessment of knowledge, education, discussion, and reassessment of goals and DD until goals are met.
