Using inclusive educational materials that allow patients to see themselves, their families, or their lifestyles in the images assists with diabetes education. Patient engagement and interest increase with the sense of identifying with images similar to their family or cultural background. Patient satisfaction scores also increase with the use of relatable visual educational materials. Plain language with basic descriptions of the actions or issues in the images accompanying the drawings boosts understanding. This poster aids the DCES or other health professional who is interested in using inclusive materials for their patient population with resources for searching or creating images resembling the populations they serve.
