P602 - Pharmacists' Impact on Diabetes Outcomes Amid the GLP-1 RA & GIP/GLP-1 RA Shortage

The use of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)/GLP-1 receptor agonists has increased substantially over the past few years due to these medications becoming first-line treatment options for type 2 diabetes (T2D) as well as their associated weight loss, major adverse cardiovascular event risk reduction, and kidney function benefits. However, their increased use has resulted in shortage and supply issues. Ambulatory care pharmacists embedded in primary care clinics have stepped up to help primary care providers develop strategies to help patients overcome these shortage and supply issues. This poster outlines a study to evaluate the impact of ambulatory care pharmacists on diabetes outcomes, specifically A1c, in people with T2D who were affected by the GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist shortage.
