P518 - Roll Out! Lessons Learned from Implementing an Inpatient Glycemic Management Tool

Implementing a computerized glycemic management tool is a large undertaking with many considerations and challenges. This poster describes the implementation, education, staff response, system alterations, and data outcomes from launching a glycemic management tool at an 800+-bed health care facility. The poster highlights changes in hypo/hyperglycemia, revisions in workflows, education gaps, nursing support, dose adjustments, and variations in charting experienced as a result of using the new tool. Also included is a description of hospital-wide modifications such as changes to the orientation curriculum and targeted nurse leadership empowerment to support and educate bedside nurses.
