Type 1 diabetes management requires robust self-care behavior and daily decision-making involving glucose monitoring, insulin administration/dosing, counting carbohydrates, and risk reduction. Over the past 3 decades, diabetes technologies have seen rapid advances including Hybrid closed loop (HCL)/Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) insulin pump systems. While these technologies can offer great benefits, such as decreased hypoglycemia, alerts regarding impending hypoglycemia, and increased time in range, learning a new technology can be overwhelming in the elderly population. This poster will review via case studies how the Medtronic 780G HCL system has increased TIR for elderly patients at a large endocrine practice.
