P416 - Use of Religious/Spiritual Coping for Youth with Diabetes and their Families

Youth with diabetes experience racial and economic disparities in disease management and access to services. Religious/spiritual practices embedded in families’ lives support the resilience and psychosocial coping of youth with diabetes. There is a need for intervention strategies that integrate these available coping resources and identify spiritual care needs that decrease the psychological burden of managing diabetes. This poster focuses on religious/spiritual coping resources and needs of Latinx families who are dealing with a youth diagnosed with diabetes. The authors describe data from focus groups with Latinx families of youth with diabetes who use religious/spiritual coping or demonstrate religious/spiritual needs.
