P418 - Mental Health Disorders - Complications or Comorbidities?

Mental health diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and eating disorders have a high prevalence in people living with diabetes. The rates approach those seen for physical complications of diabetes such as retinopathy or nephropathy. This poster describes an examination of the literature conducted by staff members at the Diabulimia Helpline and several medical professionals on their Board of Directors to explore the relationship between diabetes and mental health disorders and what the literature says about mental health disorders as a complication of diabetes, rather than a comorbid condition.
