Providers and diabetes care and education specialists (DCES) may historically have had hesitancy regarding interactions with users who have used DIY Loop due to its regulatory status. The clearance of the twiist™ AID system powered by Tidepool Loop has spawned a need for education on the algorithm. This poster is intended to open a window into understanding and managing users on the system. This poster introduces the twiist™ AID system powered by Tidepool Loop which employs a Model Predictive Control (MPC) Algorithm, displaying 6-hour glucose forecasts to users. The algorithm considers insulin delivery, carbohydrate entries, and CGM readings. Therapy settings, similar to those in traditional insulin pump therapy, form the foundation for insulin delivery and adjustments. Clinicians can optimize basal rates, Insulin Sensitivity Factor, and carb ratios. DCES familiar with insulin pumps have a foundation for understanding and managing users on this algorithm and will find coaching to be simple and straight forward.
