Dr. Lawrence Fisher is a national and international speaker a professor emeritus in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and Director of The Behavioral Diabetes Research Group, where he maintains an active clinical practice. He has won teaching awards, a nomination for an Outstanding Mentorship Award, has been recognized for Substantial Contributions to the Field of Family Psychology and Health, and was a recipient of the Richard Rubin Award from the ADA. As a primary investigator for three NIH-supported trials to test different interventions to reduce diabetes distress among adults with diabetes, his recent work focuses on diabetes distress and depression, disease management, and how adults and families struggle over time to manage chronic health conditions.
